STRANGERS, 12x12 wood panel, acrylic paints collage, painted 2025.
This one is mysterious. I actually had no idea I just found this beautiful strange piece on the beach and also I came across a piece of paper that I saw and thought it was very interesting and decided to put them together. You can look at it and decide for yourself what it could mean.
Question: so what were your thoughts at the time when you put these two together what was on your mind and why did it become the way it is now?
I named these strangers because they are so different from each other. There’s no rhyme or reason that they should appear together, but they do.
Question: Is it something familiar to you and you do find these on the beach or in the street or come with up with these freeform?
No, I find things in the street, everywhere and the beach and I have a habit of picking things up if I think they’re interesting but then it turns out not to be not such a bad habit. I can make things out of things that people look at and think they are pieces of garbage, but one can do beautiful things with them. I am not saying that this is a beautiful piece, but it is in an interesting piece and very challenging.
Question: Do you think there’s an additional reason you painted this was something going on your life that caused you to have these two completely different objects in the same painting?
I think again the way people are today. They’re so separated by beliefs and I think that it is where I was going with this one. There is no sense of community and it has been disrupted by people’s completely different opinions.
